Simplify Web site setup with Personal Web Manager
Internet Information Services (IIS) lets a Windows 2000 Professional computer host a Web site.
When you install IIS on a Windows 2000 Professional computer, you have the option of installing
Personal Web Manager (PWM), which simplifies Web site setup and management. You access
PWM from the Administrative Tools folder.
PWM's interface includes three pages that help you configure the site: Main, Tour, and Advanced.
Use the Main page to start and stop the WWW service, specify the site's home directory, and view
connection and site statistics. Use the Tour page to get an overview of IIS features.
From the Advanced page, add, remove, and modify the properties of virtual directories. Properties
include aliases, access permissions, and application permissions. You also use the Advanced page to
enable and set a default document for the site, enable/disable directory browsing, and turn site
While PWM is fine for many users, there likely will be times when you need to configure other
Web site properties. Use the Internet Services Manager console in the Administrative Tools folder
to configure additional site properties.
