| Disaster recovery tools |
| When disaster strikes and you're unable to boot Windows 2000, there's no need to panic. You have |
| several disaster recovery tools at your disposal if you have the Windows 2000 Server Resource Kit, |
| Last Known Good Configuration:If you're unable to completely boot the computer because of a |
| driver or application failure, you can use the Last Known Good Configuration. On the Boot loader |
| screen, press [F8] and select Last Known Good Configuration. Note that this only works if you |
| haven't logged on after the problem occurs. |
| Safe Mode: If you can't boot Windows 2000, try to boot into Safe Mode, which just loads the basic |
| drivers needed for the system. On the boot loader menu, press [F8] and then select Safe Mode. |
| Recovery Console: If you're unable to boot Windows 2000 and can't get Last Known Good |
| Configuration or Safe Mode to work, you can use the Recovery Console to try to repair the system. |
