| CONTROL COOKIES TO PREVENT WEB SITES FROM STORING INFORMATION |
| Many Web sites store cookies on your computer when you visit the site as |
| a means of keeping track of your visits. For example, many sites use |
| cookies to let you log on automatically to the site; others track how often |
| you visit the site. You might want to exercise some control over cookies |
| on your system if for no other reason than to protect your privacy. You |
| might also want to review the cookies stored on your system and delete the |
| You have three options for handling cookies: Allow cookies to be |
| created, have Internet Explorer prompt you before the cookie is created, or |
| prevent them altogether. To set these options: |
| 1. Open Internet Explorer and choose Tools | Internet Options. |
| 2. Click the Security tab, click Custom Level, and then scroll through |
| the list to find the option Allow Cookies That Are Stored On Your |
| 3. Select Disable (to prevent cookies from being stored), Prompt (to |
| have Internet Explorer prompt you when a site attempts to store a cookie), |
| or Enable (to allow all cookies). |
| Next, take some time to review the cookies already stored on your |
| computer. Open the Properties for Internet Explorer and click Settings on the |
| General Page. Click View Files on the Settings dialog box to open the |
| Temporary Internet Files folder. Click the Type column header to sort the |
| folder by file type, which groups all of the cookies together. Select and |
| delete the ones you don't want stored on your system. |
