Give your text underlining some new style in Word (2002) Although you can quickly apply standard underlining to your text using the Underline button on the Formatting toolbar, many people don't realize how easy it is to jazz up the underline style using the Font dialog box. To add a unique style of underlining, select the text you wish to underline and choose Format | Font. Next, click on the Font tab in the resulting Font dialog box, and then click on the dropdown arrow in the Underline Style list box (near the center of the Font property sheet). Now you can select any option, from dotted and dashed to waves or double straight underlines--you can check out how the selected style looks with text in the Preview window. Once you've decided on an underline style, click OK to apply the formatting and exit the Font dialog box. Easily insert symbols and special characters in Excel 2002!
Prior to Excel 2002,
incorporating symbol characters into worksheets was often a cumbersome
process. You had several options, none of which were terribly efficient.
Excel 2002 introduces a feature that acts like an integrated, more
efficient version of the Windows Character Map utility. Simply choose
Insert | Symbol from the menu bar when you need to insert a symbol or
special character into your cell text. Excel displays the Symbol dialog
box, which contains two tabs, Symbols and Special Characters. The
Symbols tab is similar to Character Map. You can select one of the fonts
installed on your system and see its characters displayed in a grid. The
Special Characters tab provides a static list of commonly used
characters. Regardless of which tab you're using, simply select the
appropriate character and then click the Insert button to add the
character at your insertion point. When you've finished, click the Close
button to dismiss the dialog box and return to regular keyboard entry.
Convert an Access report into a Word document (Word 97-2000-2002) If you're a Microsoft Access user, you may often need to distribute
database reports to colleagues. However, if they don't have Access on
their systems or can't connect to a particular data source, they won't be
able to view the report. Although printing hard copy is always an option,
it can be inefficient to work with and costly to distribute. As an
alternative, you can turn an Access report into a file that users can open
and edit with Word. |
