Comments are always tagged with the word Comment in Word 2002 (XP)!
Comments are always tagged with the word Comment. A better tool for your purposes is text boxes. You can add a text box either by choosing Text Box from the Insert menu or by clicking on the Text Box button on the Drawing toolbar. Depending on the version of Word, an area labeled Create Your Drawing Here may appear. Ignore it. Use your mouse to click and drag the text box to define its position and size in the margin, then enter your comment in the text box and adjust the size as needed. You can also format the box and the text using Format | Text Box.

You'll want to anchor the text box to the correct paragraph. To do this, choose Tools | Options, then View, and in the Print and Web Layout area, make sure there's a check in the Object Anchors check box. Select the text box and look for a small anchor icon in the left margin, indicating to which paragraph the text box is anchored. If necessary, use the mouse to drag the anchor to the right paragraph. Finally, with the text box still selected, choose Format | Text Box, choose the Layout tab, click on the Advanced button and then the Picture Position tab. In the Options section, make sure that the Lock anchor and Move object with text options are checked, so the text box will move with the paragraph as you enter and edit text.

Do note that the text box will not be visible if you switch to Normal view—you need to use Print Layout view.

Apply a smart tag action to several cells at once (Excel 2002)!
Excel 2002 uses smart tags to simplify fixing several types of common errors. When you want to apply the same error correction smart tag action to a number of cells, you don't have to work with each cell individually.

For instance, say that you've imported data into Excel and it contains numbers formatted as text. When you select an individual cell, the smart tag button appears and you can use the associated menu to convert the data to a number. While smart tags are designed to be timesavers, applying such a change to each cell individually would be a pain.

Fortunately, you can apply a smart tag action to a range. The range must be contiguous and the cell that's active when you finish the selection must contain the appropriate smart tag. After you make the selection, the smart tag button appears next to the highlighted range. Simply choose the appropriate smart tag menu item to apply the action to all of the relevant cells in the selection.
Reactivating the Preview button when using PowerPoint's transparency sliders (2002)!
When adjusting transparency for an object fill, it's a lot easier to preview the changes before you apply them so you don't need to exit and reopen either the Fill Effects or the Format AutoShape dialog box. However, when you adjust the From and To Transparency sliders for a gradient fill on the Fill Effects dialog box's Gradient property sheet, you may find that the Preview button has become unavailable (grayed out). When this happens, choose the same color you already have from the Color 1, the Color 2, or the Preset Colors dropdown list. This should reactivate the Preview button without changing your desired color and transparency settings. Now you can preview your new transparency settings without exiting the dialog box.
