| Optimize GPO performance |
| As mentioned in part one, you can have a great impact on the logon times on your machines. Here |
| are detailed instructions on how to perform the optimization. |
| To disable portions of Group Policy settings, follow these steps: |
| Open the Active Directory Users And Computers console. |
| Expand the domain and organizational units (OUs) for which you want to change the Group Policy |
| Right-click the domain and the OU and then select Properties. |
| On the Group Policy tab, select the Group Policy Object and click Properties. |
| Disable the computer configuration settings or user configuration settings by selecting the |
| Click OK and close all dialog boxes. |
| To configure asynchronous GPO processing, follow these steps: |
| Open the Active Directory Users And Computers console. |
| Expand the domain and OUs for which you want to change the GPO processing. |
| Right-click the domain and the OU, and then select Properties. |
| On the Group Policy tab, select the Group Policy Object and click Edit. |
| Expand Computer Configuration | Administrative Templates | System | Group Policy. |
| Enable Apply Group Policy For Computers Asynchronously During Startup by selecting the check |
| Enable Apply Group Policy For Users Asynchronously During Logon. |
